5 Must Have Gifts for the Camping Season
Every year, I blog about the “5 Must Haves” for the upcoming year. But after a recent visit to the Coleman Outlet store in Burlington, Washington (closest one to my city), I feel that Coleman products are a tried and true and a must have for every camper and RVer. If you go to a campsite, you would be hard pressed to not locate a Coleman item.
I own the following Coleman items: An octagonal screen tent, a two room tent, a set of Coleman lantern string lights to light the way to the tent at night, a propane lantern, three battery operated lanterns, a candle lantern, a two burner 25 year old stove – still works but would like to upgrade to a three burner soon, barbeque, director’s chairs, a kickback chair, standard folding camping chairs, stadium seats, plastic playing cards, multiple coolers from various stages of my camping life, water carrier, water jug and probably more items that I am missing by not looking into my camping vault. Now that I write it all out, even I have to say “that’s a whole lot of Coleman”. It’s hard not to be biased when it comes to using Coleman products, but as I mentioned earlier about having owned a lot of their products for years – you know it’s a product and company that you can rely on year after year and generation after generation. Coleman products can be found at major retailers across Canada and The United States, as well as being sold online too – www.colemancanada.ca and www.coleman.com.
Item 1 Lighted Tent Fan
If you are a “tenter”, you will know that, during the summer camping season when its warm out, that the inside temperature of a tent can raise substantially, this is why for the first product I chose is The CPX 6 Lighted Tent Fan with Stand. The portable cooling and lighting system keeps the air circulating. The lights can be used bright or switched to a nightlight for little campers. The best thing about this fan is that it is safe for all ages as the blades are made of soft foam. You have power options of either: four D-cell batteries, a CPX® 6 rechargeable power cartridge or a CPX® 6 A/C adaptor cartridge. Making this one of the most versatile fans I have seen.
Item 2 Propane Coffee Maker
A coffee drinker I’m not, but my next “Group Must Have” is the Coleman Propane Coffee Maker, this coffee maker has an Instastart ignition – no matches or lighters needed. You can have a 10-cup pot of fresh brewed coffee in 18 minutes and if you want a cup of java faster it also sports a pause ‘n’ serve button allowing you to pour a cup mid brew. This maker uses a small propane cylinder or if you’re like me, I have a propane tree for the kitchen area and this could be easily added to the line.
Item 3 Portable Water Heater
My third must have is for the “roughing it camper”. The Hot Water on Demand, Portable Water Heater, uses a similar tankless system like you may have at home, dispensing hot water in as little as 30 seconds. All you need to do is connect the pump to the 5-gallon water carrier that is included, connect the hoses, set your temperature and the water will be heated up to 54°F with a maximum temperature of 125°F. It’s perfect for washing the dishes, preparing a hot beverage or even taking a shower when you’re in the great outdoors. The shower head can be placed in the adjustable holder for use as a sink faucet, or you can detach it for use as a handheld sprayer with the 6-foot, non-kink hose. A built-in lithium-ion battery, which can be charged from your car outlet with the included charger, powers the electric pump and LED display. When you’re ready to pack up, you simply disconnect the hoses and you can store everything in the carry bag until the next time you need hot water.
Item 4 Ladder Ball
Camping games just got more competitive. Yes there are still people playing cards, Yahtzee, crib and Mexican Train for their sit down games and bocce, lawn darts, Frisbee and good ole fashioned game of toss for their get active games, but now, more campers are playing Ladder Ball (try the Coleman® Ladder Ball Pro Set). Don’t worry if you don’t have your own game as most campers are more than willing for a passerby to join in on a game.
Ladder Ball is a relatively easy game to play. The game is usually played in teams and each person tries to land their bolo on a ladder, for more competition and to make the game interesting you would state the certain ladder the bolo has to land on for points. This game is sure to provide hours of friendly competition. The solid wood ladders and bolos are easy to pack into the handy carry bag for transport and storage.
Item 5 Stacker Coolers
When camping in the summer months, the biggest obstacle I hear from campers is trying to keep everyone happy with cold beverages. Well, Coleman has you covered with their 48 Can Party Stacker™ Cooler. It comes in multiple colours (a great way to organize your drinks). If the kids are kept to their own cooler for getting small snacks and beverages, then the adult cooler stays colder for longer. Also this cooler is not just limited to canned drinks, it’s tall enough to hold 20-oz. bottles upright, and the wide base fits 13 x 9 in. serving dishes – you can easily pack something for everyone. No matter what you bring, the molded handles will make it easy to get it there. The specially designed base fits in the lid of the next Party Stacker making “coolerville” nice and tidy.
