British Columbia Bound for Orchard Hill Campground
A family reunion beckoned my husband and I to Kelowna, B.C. We were determined to attend despite the devastating Alberta floods of 2013 which affected our route. In our RV, we found another way to Kelowna from Red Deer, AB. and met up with fellow family campers from Kamloops, B.C. at Orchard Hill RV Park in Kelowna. The hospitality of the owner was warm and the view of a nearby orchard was lovely.
After settling in, we met some family members for a hike at the Kettle Valley Railroad area which overlooks Kelowna from 3,000 ft. (910 meters). Immediately after arrival, clouds formed and the rain poured down!
We decided to do the hike regardless of the heavy mist, rain and muddy trail. Although our city view was obstructed we could enjoy the fresh air, bright green foliage and colourful flowers. Most of all, each other’s company was valued and enjoyed because of the rarity of the occasion. Soggy yet happy, we headed back to our RV’s where we dried out with the help of the now brilliant sunshine. The next few days were filled with laughter, games, good food, family and beautiful weather. We are headed back to Kelowna, B.C. this September for another RV camping experience which undoubtedly will be as memorable as the last.
