This past summer BC Parks, in partnership with Camping and RVing BC Coalition, launched a fun, new park activity for kids and families called Jerry’s Search and Sketch, the Ultimate Scavenger Quest!

Families loved the new activity because their children enjoyed searching the parks and drawing sketches of what they found. The kids also loved the collectable Jerry the Moose pin! The program was also very popular with parks staff as families spent their time exploring the beauty BC Parks has to offer. Families who shared their photos of the completed scavenger quest, either by Facebook or by email, are entered into a draw for a free weekend of camping in BC Parks. The winner will be drawn at the end of November.

Here are some happy experiences from families who participated in the scavenger quest this past summer:

“We have been visiting McDonald Creek Provincial Park for over 10 years now and love it there! It’s so beautiful with the mountains and lakes just a few meters away from the campsites, and the campground is always clean and quiet. We never have to worry about our children when they’re off exploring the forest or the beach, which they spend 90% of their time doing! The scavenger quest was great for our daughter to test her artistic skills. She wasn’t happy with some of her attempts and ended up erasing few several times (the spider web especially) before she was satisfied with the result.”

“We really enjoyed our family camping trip at Ruckle Provincial Park. Best camping trip ever! We were able to go for trail runs, leisurely walks and relax at the beach. Our kids loved exploring the tidal pools and looking for crabs and starfish. Our kids also enjoyed doing the scavenger quest; they actually spent three days on it!”

“Thank you for the scavenger quest idea! It was a great way to entertain the kids while we packed in the rain!”

Stay tuned for spring 2017 for your families chance to play Jerry’s Search and Sketch, the Ultimate Scavenger Quest!
