Meet the MacDermott’s – we are first time RV owners
Meet the MacDermott’s – we are first time RV owners, camping newbies and taking BC by storm. With 3.5 year old Cooper and 2 year old Hannah, we packed up the trailer and headed north for over 2 weeks. What started as an idea to visit family at Sandy’s RV and Camping Resort on Francois Lake turned into a tour of northern BC. It was a rocky start – a broken sink before we even pulled out of Kelowna and a missed turn on the way to Quesnel, but every road trip needs its adventures.
We had a few stops planned along the way, but wanted to have the freedom to stay longer or move along as we pleased. The north had so much to offer, it was easy to find things to do. We quickly decided we were going to make our way from Kelowna all the way up to Prince Rupert and back. The kids immediately fell in love with trailer life and spending most of the days outside. Some of our highlights included fishing on Francois Lake, golfing in Smithers, hiking Butze Rapids in Prince Rupert, quadding with famed BC artist Roy Henry Vickers in Hazelton, visiting the train museum in Prince George and roasting marshmallows at 108 Mile Ranch. With over 3000kms covered, 17 nights in our trailer and countless memories, this was truly a camping trip to remember.
What a great way to see our province, learn about new places and spend time as a family. We are already looking forward to Road Trip 2015 as the MacDermott’s take on Vancouver Island. We will however be packing a map right from the beginning this time!
