Five Spots to Ice Fish and Camp this Winter in British Columbia
Ice fishing is often overlooked as a winter activity, especially if you live in southern B.C. But fishing opportunities do not stop when the temperature freezes - they only get more exciting. Ice fishing is a very social sport and requires only a limited amount of gear or experience. The entire lake becomes accessible without the need of a boat and you don’t need the often complicated casting techniques required in other fisheries. It’s as simple as drilling a hole and dropping a line. Don’t winterize that RV just yet; there are many parks open year-round close to great hard water lakes. Fun Family Camping Trip to the Okanagan, British Columbia
It doesn’t feel like summer until we visit Penticton, the interior of BC where it’s always warmer and where fruit orchards and wineries make for a picturesque summer photo. With our trailer in tow, the average five-hour commute allows us to enjoy the beautiful lush scenery and mountain peak tops until we arrive at Southbeach Gardens RV & Campground, where we have become regulars. Often times the kids will have their tablets and headphones ready for the road-trip, along with pillows and blankets next to them just in case they feel like taking a nap. We would pack fresh fruits, lots of water and some salty snacks to avoid having to make unnecessary stops if someone gets hungry. Continue ReadingOkanagan Lavender Herb Farm
Roadtrekking in British Columbia’s Southern Interior
Recently we took our Roadtrek van on a camping trip "Roadtrekking" through some of the not so well-known but delightful smaller towns in the Okanagan area of the southern interior of British Columbia. The first day, we left the Vancouver area and headed up Highway 1 and the Crowsnest Hwy 3 to Princeton. We spent the first night in the Princeton municipal park campground which has full hook-ups with free Wifi and is located right beside the Similkameen River on Highway 3. It is a great place to stop overnight. Another camping option is the Princeton golf club across the road with free Wifi and firewood for campers. Go “BIG” or just Go Camping…..
Sunnyside Campground Cultus Checking In
Camping has changed – big time! Just go to most campgrounds right now and look around. What do you see? Hotels! Yes I said hotels – gone are the modest canvas tents of yesteryear. Now they have separate entrances, vaulted ceilings, e-ports and solar adapters to charge your electronics. And some even go as far as having air-conditioning units.

Pemberton, British Columbia – a Fun Diversion from Whistler
As you arrive in Pemberton, the Visitor Centre is located on Hwy 99 opposite Petro Canada or McDonald’s. We followed signage to the town centre and found ample parking on the street. It was a pleasant stroll through the various stores and the shop assistants were friendly, helpful and a great source of information on local activities, restaurants and coffee shops to go to in the area. RVing in BC is a Different World – And One I’m Starting to Love
As total newbies, we had never been to an RV park, and had no idea what to expect - but everywhere we went, we were warmly greeted, given information on the area, advice on hook-ups, and, although I was more than pleased to see pull-through sites, there was always someone around to assist if you needed help reversing. And - they didn't laugh! It really did feel like we were a part of a small community. Continue Reading
