Bull Canyon Provincial Park
Bull Canyon is a small campground along Highway 20, ideal for visitors travelling in the Chilcotin. The park is located in a beautiful canyon, with the glacier blue Chilcotin River (Tŝilhqox) flowing past the campground. There is a short walking trail beside the river, and the surrounding area supports excellent fishing lakes, birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunities. It is the Ideal stopover to see the beautiful canyon. Bull Canyon, known as Tŝiyi [inside the rock] to the Tŝilhqot’in, is an ancient Tŝilhqot’in village site, an important place for collecting berries and other plants for food and medicine, and for fishing sockeye and spring salmon, steelhead, and various species of trout. Tŝiyi was also the site of a great battle between Tŝilhqot’in and an invading First Nation, that took place before European Contact. Tŝiyi is a sacred place for Tŝilhqot’in to this day, and they ask that it remain as undisturbed as possible, and that nothing be removed from the canyon. Park Size: 369 hectares
